COMCEC honors the ICCI

imageIn appreciation to the role of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) in supporting the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the Organization of the Islamic Conference throughout its life over 25 years, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Gul, President of the Republic of Turkey and Chairman of the COMCEC honored it through celebrating the 25th anniversary of COMCEC on November 5-7, 2009 by delivering honorary plaque to its President H.E Sheikh Saleh Abdallah Kamel whom H.E Dr. Alwi Shihab received the plaque on behalf. 

Through the resolution that has been taken during the 25th session, COMCEC expressed its appreciation of the role of the ICCI in the activities that achieve the objectives of the Ten-Year Work Plan and adopting a new strategy on increasing intra-trade among the OIC Member States.

COMCEC also expressed its satisfaction with what the ICCI does, especially the Islamic World Company for Exploring the Investment Opportunities (Foras)- the Investment arm of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry- that focuses its activities on sectors of agriculture, real estate wealth, and energy in African Member States.

It is worthy to mention that celebration of COMCEC with its 25th anniversary of the establishment is synchronizing with the OIC 40 anniversary of foundation.

The session was inaugurated by H.E Dr. Abdullah Gul, President of the Republic of Turkey by delivering a keynote speech in which he referred to the major successes achieved by the COMCEC over the past twenty-five years that would give greater efficiency and strength in the next phase of COMCEC by strengthening its institutional structures and forming a document containing applicable vision. He called for stronger policy and following up the completion of bureaucracy effectively.
