Zakat Foundation of Egypt donates one million pounds in aid for the victims of floods

Believing in the importance of social solidarity among the classes of society, Zakat Foundation of Egypt (ZFE) has donated one million pounds to the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) for the sake of supporting the victims of floods and reconstruction of the affected areas in the northern Sinai and Aswan.

The cheque had been delivered by Ms. Alaa Al-Dulaimi, Acting Executive Director of the ZFE to Dr. Mamdouh Al-Amin Director-General of the Egyptian Red Crescent. They discussed the ways of cooperation between the two sides to serve the neediest of Egypt.

Dr. Abdul-Aziz Hegazi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of ZFE stressed the importance of solidarity among charities and institutions of civil society so as to alleviate the suffering of flood victims and reconstruct these areas as soon as possible. He also praised the efforts exerted by the Egyptian Red Crescent in following up the incident and providing humanitarian relief supplies to the affected families, in addition to its determination to contribute to the refurbishment of the devastated homes including appliances and furniture.

In the framework of the immediate assistance to the victims of floods, Zakat Foundation of Egypt will send a medical aid convoy to Aswan in March, comprising senior doctors and consultants in all medical specialties. It also will include a mobile lab, in addition to pharmaceutical drugs. For those who wish to participate in the preparation or contribution to this convoy, ZFE will be more than happy to call   25263969  or 0100640630.

It is worthy to mention that Zakat Foundation of Egypt is one of the projects of ICC. It is a contemporary entity derived from the juristic provisions of Zakat (alms) as it interests in spreading the awareness of the importance of Zakat as well as the economic and social role played by it in the Islamic nation’s life. ZFE works to a contemporary perspective to distribute the Zakat in its eight channels that God Almighty identified.
