Saleh Kamel… Chairman of Jeddah Chamber

H.E Sheikh Saleh Abdullah Kamel was unanimously elected Chairman of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, gaining the confidence of the 18 appointed board members at the first meeting of the new board of directors held at the Jeddah International Centre for Forums & Events. Mazen Batarji kept his position as the First Deputy Chairperson of the Chamber while Dr. Lama Suleiman was elected the Second Deputy and Dr.Abdullah Mari’ bin Mahfouz, was elected JCCI representative to the SCC.

Sheikh Saleh Kamel said in a press release following the meeting that the new board of directors will does its best so as to enroot the Chamber's status at the internal and external levels as the Saudi oldest Chambers of Commerce. He considered the choice of Dr. Lama Suleiman to be deputy chairperson is a new trend added to the priorities of Jeddah Chamber, pointing out that the next meeting will include the preparations of the Jeddah Economic Forum and the great events organized by the Chamber. Kamel outlined that the coming stage would witness social role for the chamber for further interaction with the social issues and to double work in all business sectors in order to achieve the aspirations of businesspeople community of Jeddah.
The coming two meetings will discuss developing action plan for the next four years to implement deliberated issues needed for the City, Kamel said
The Board agreed on the continuation of the Chamber in the City of Jeddah and not to be limited to trade and economic business, saying "the Chamber has social responsibility toward our society, so we have to perform at all levels."
On the Chamber's role in facing Jeddah floods, H.E Sheikh Saleh Kamel said "we focused on the basic needs and the government did not fail as the Custodian of the Two Holy allocated and ordered large amounts, and I was so pleased with the quick move of the Chamber that managed to collect more than 500 volunteers for food processing »
Answering the question whether he leaves the chairmanship of the Islamic Chamber after presiding Jeddah Chamber or not, Sheikh Saleh Kamel said the presidency of the Jeddah Chamber does not conflict with that of the Islamic Chamber.
On replying another question, have the centers, councils and positions emanating from the Jeddah Chamber been distributed? Kamel said what had been done is only electing two deputies and the Chamber's representative while the remaining positions will be determined later.
